SoundTrap: The future of online music collaborations

In today's world where pretty much everything takes place online and social distancing is still an issue, it would be great if musicians could make music together online. Spotify has now  released a tool where exactly that is possible.

Soundtrap is a website where you can make music either on your own or with others. You can explore their extensive collection of beats, loops and instruments or just plug in your own instrument and jam along. Soundtrap has over 4,000 beats and presets to choose from and users can even connect their microphone to it. This means you can record and edit audio and collaborate with others within a website. Due to the various possible ways of collaborating with other musicians across the world, plus the integration of so many sounds and effects, there’s almost nothing that holds you back from creating a professional sound.. To collaborate with other musicians in real-time and maybe make new contacts through this is a huge benefit. This way you can make music with your friends in the future, even if you are not in the same city, without having to send stems or project files.

With Soundtrap for Education, students can get creative with sound recordings on all subjects, at all ages, and at all levels of learning. As long as your device is connected to wifi you can continue working on it at any time, as the studio runs entirely in the cloud. This also saves your harddrive from being too packed and it avoids losing any sounds or project files - which is something that probably has happened to all of us already - arghh.

As with the Spotify app itself, there are also different subscription models that you can book at Soundtrap. The free subscription version is ideal for beginners who would like to try it out. Click here for more information.
Currently, there’s also a  Soundtrap Capture app that is however only available in the App Store for now , but it will be soon available for Android users as well. If you have Soundtrap on your smartphone, then you can also show your first ideas to your friends without having to take all your equipment with you.

So as you can see, Soundtrap offers a lot of possibilities for you to be creative. It doesn't matter if you've been in the music business for a long time or if you're just starting out, you don’t need any expensive equipment or a good computer to get started - how great is that?!

We hope that we could explain Soundtrap to you and we wish you a lot of fun while making music.
