Spotify's "Concerts Near You" playlist: Never miss local gigs again
Spotify has released a new feature that makes it easier for users to find concerts in their area. The "Concerts Near You" playlist is personalized and shows artists who are performing nearby on a weekly basis. This results in clear added value for music fans and acts.
This is how it works:
Every Wednesday, the playlist is automatically updated - with 30 songs from artists playing live in the respective region. Each title is linked to further event information and ticket platforms such as Ticketmaster, DICE, AXS or Eventbrite.
Settings for relevant recommendations:
- Update location in the "Live Events" section of the Spotify app
- Activate push notifications to be reminded of upcoming concerts
- Follow artists to be informed immediately of new tour dates
- Call up the playlist via the search ("concerts") in the app
For artists: Visibility with a local audience
For acts, the feature offers the opportunity to reach targeted listeners in the vicinity. If you have an active audience in certain regions on Spotify, you can use the playlist to generate additional attention for upcoming live dates. This can have a positive impact on reach and ticket sales - without any additional marketing effort.
First version with development potential
The feature is not yet fully accurate in all regions. Users in less densely populated areas sometimes receive recommendations for concerts in neighboring cities. However, Spotify has already announced that it will continuously improve location accuracy and personalization.
