Spotify's Upcoming Releases: Promote your music before it's out

Spotify now showcases “Upcoming Releases” before their official release — personalized, prominent, and directly in the app. Here’s how artists can benefit and build more reach in the pre-release phase.

What is new in Spotify’s Upcoming Releases?

Spotify has launched a new section in the mobile app: Upcoming Releases. Located under Search > Browse all, users can now explore personalized recommendations for upcoming music releases — tailored to their individual listening habits. It’s a new way for artists to be discovered before their music goes live.

In this section, users will find:

  • Personalized previews of upcoming EPs and albums
  • Release dates for upcoming projects
  • Album pages with tracklists, audio clips, streams and merchandise
  • Automatic notifications on release day
  • The option to save albums to their library
  • A weekly top 10 countdown of the most anticipated new music globally

This feature is seamlessly integrated into the Spotify app, making it easy for listeners with a strong discovery mindset to find and engage with new music.

Why Spotify’s Upcoming Releases matter for artists

If you have over 5,000 monthly listeners, you can activate your upcoming releases for inclusion in the Countdown and the Upcoming Releases section. This means you’ll appear in fans' discovery feeds before your release date, generating attention when it matters most.

Benefits for artists:

  • Visibility in a new, curated discovery area
  • Early interaction with engaged fans
  • Better chances of being picked up by Spotify’s algorithm on release day
  • Eligibility for the "Top 10 countdown" feature
