Spotify Update 2025: More control, more creativity, more music discovery
Discovering music should be simple and fun. That’s why Spotify has introduced a range of new features that give you more control over your listening experience. Whether you want to improve playlists, customize recommendations or discover new songs, this update makes everything easier and more intuitive.
Smarter playback controls in "Now Playing"
Spotify Premium users now get an upgraded Now Playing view. Shuffle, Smart Shuffle, Repeat and even a Sleep Timer are directly accessible. Spotify also shows you upcoming song recommendations and you decide whether they belong in your queue. If you prefer manual control, Autoplay and Smart Shuffle can easily be switched off in the settings.
Hide songs or snooze them for later
Sometimes a song doesn’t fit your mood. With the improved hide function, you can now remove it from a playlist on all devices with one tap. Even better, the new snooze feature lets you pause a track in your recommendations for 30 days. This is perfect if you want to take a break from a song without losing it entirely.
Customize and design playlists faster
Playlist management on mobile is now much more intuitive. At the top of each playlist, you’ll find quick access to add, sort and edit. You can adjust the title, cover and track order within seconds. In selected countries, there’s also a new option to filter your favorites by genre and instantly turn them into a playlist.
The new "Create" button
The new Create (+) button, now placed at the bottom right of the app, offers quick access to playlist creation. You can build playlists, collaborate with friends, join a Blend or, as a Premium user, start a Jam for shared listening. Another highlight: the AI Playlist generator is now available in more countries, allowing you to create playlists from just a few text prompts.
Your library – just moved
Don’t worry, your library hasn’t disappeared. On mobile, you’ll now find it as the third option in the navigation bar. As always, your saved songs, albums and playlists are available there.
