Releasing DJ Mix easily: What you need to consider
DJ mixes are particularly popular in the electronic music industry. This format is not only possible on platforms such as SoundCloud or Twitch, but you can also publish DJ mixes professionally through us. However, there are a few important points to bear in mind to ensure smooth publication.
Important points for publishing DJ mixes:
1. File size and audio quality
The audio file of the DJ mix must not be larger than 1 GB. Make sure that the mix is well compressed and still available in high quality to offer listeners an optimal experience.
2. All tracks must be included in the release
Your DJ mix may only contain tracks that are available in the corresponding release. No additional tracks may be added and none may be omitted. The track list must be complete and correct to avoid licensing issues.
3. Correct titling of the DJ mix
The addition "DJ Mix" must be included in the product title to make it clear that it is a mixed compilation. This makes it clear to listeners what they can expect.
4. The DJ as the main artist
The DJ who created the mix must be listed as the main artist. This ensures that the mix is properly attributed to the DJ and listed correctly on platforms.
Two variants for DJ mixes
- There are two different ways in which DJ mixes can be published:
- Compilation with attached DJ mix: Here, the DJ mix is published as one continuous, long file, often as the conclusion of a compilation.
- Compilation as a DJ mix consisting of individual tracks with the addition of "Mixed": The tracks are listed individually, but with the addition of "Mixed" to indicate the smooth transitions. This method is particularly suitable if the individual tracks of a mix are not to be presented as separate titles but as a continuous listening experience.
PS: Please note that iTunes and Spotify do not support DJ mixes and these tracks will therefore be grayed out.
If you follow these simple but important guidelines, nothing will stand in the way of a successful release of your DJ mix. Make sure the track list is complete, the track is correctly labeled and the correct platforms are chosen for the release.
