Instagram now shows what you're listening to - and makes music more visible
Instagram is launching a new feature that is particularly exciting for musicians, labels and fans: Users can now directly display which song they are currently listening to on Spotify - via a dynamic music note.
The function is called "Listening Now" and is being rolled out worldwide. It shows the title, cover and changes automatically as soon as a new song is playing. If available, lyrics are even displayed directly in the note - a plus point for artists with lyrically strong material.
Why this is relevant
- Music is more strongly integrated into social design
- Song sharing is subtle but visible in the chat area
- The lyrics make the connection to the track even more personal
- Ideal for fan loyalty and community engagement
